2003 Aileen Bernice Gravot nee Sutter, 76, of Millstadt, died Dec. 3, 2006, in Millstadt. She was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Bixby, the daughter of the late Henry and Edna Sutter nee Hoock. She was married to Joseph B. Gravot in 1946. Mrs. Gravot is survived by her husband; sons Joel Gravot of St. Louis, Alan (Joanne) Gravot of Gibbstown, N.J., and Michael (Christine) Gravot of Paulsboro, N.J.; grandchildren Morgan Gravot, Aileen Gravot, Leisl Gravot and Evelyn Townsend, all of Paulsboro, N.J., and Christopher Gravot of Swansea; brother Clarence (Georgine) Sutter of Millstadt; sister Gladys (John) Fischer of Columbia; nieces Marilyn (Harold) Hughes of Millstadt, and Karen (Gerald) Rains of Belleville; nephews Norman (Sandra) Sutter, Clay (Tammi) Sutter, Kevin (Tina) Cason, all of Millstadt, Dan Cason of Hecker, and Gerald (Patricia) Fischer of Collinsville; sister-in-law Dortha May Cason of Collinsville; and other relatives and friends. He was born July 20, 1915, in Millstadt, the son of the late Harry and Lena Hoepfinger nee Rehg. Mr. Hoepfinger is survived by his brother Vernon A. Hoepfinger of Caseyville; sisters Mildred C. Brewster of Belleville and Carolyn P. Harris of Columbia; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Priscilla Hoepfinger, second wife Jeanette Hoepfinger, and sisters Bernice Bieller and Viola Fauerbach. Mr. Hoepfinger was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo. He was a retired foreman from the Missouri Pacific Railroad, where he worked from 1935 to 1975. He was a member of Masonic Blue Lodge 474 A.F. & A.M. in Columbia for 55 years and VFW Post #6368 in Dupo for more than 50 years. He enjoyed bowling and playing kloepper and baseball. Huebner, 47, of Waterloo, died Dec. 3, 2006, in Red Bud. He was born Jan. 15, 1959, in Red Bud, the son of Marlene Huebner nee Sasenger and the late Paul Huebner. He was born July 11, 1932, in St. Louis the son of the late Peter and Frances Ganley nee Walsh. Mr. Ganley is survived by his brother Pete Ganley Jr. of Waterloo, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Ganley was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. She was born May 22, 1944, in Wetauge, the daughter of the late Harley E. and Mary L. Smith nee Phalin. She was married to the late Ralph James Shelton. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her brother Ray W. (Linda) Smith of Marissa, and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers. She was married to the late Omer C. Weisenborn. He preceded her in death in 1972. Mr. Weisenborn is survived by her children Gloria Morton of Belleville, Florence Farmer of Columbia, Wayne (JoAnn) Weisenborn of Columbia, Barbara (Ed) Schutte of Columbia, and Harold Weisenborn of Overland Park, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchild; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Loretta Frazier and granddaughter Dianne Morton. Dorothy Wilma Rehg nee Harvey, 89, of Millstadt, died Dec. 8, 2006, in Belleville. She was born Sept. 14, 1917, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Erwin Leroy and Sophie Louise Harvey nee Schonhoff. She was married to the late Archibald Oliver Rehg. Mrs. Rehg is survived by her sister Mary Egbert of Millstadt, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Harold Harvey, Edith Brem, Burton Harvey, Lillian Buatte and Elsie Staley. Mrs. Rehg was a member of Concordia United Church of Christ in Belleville. She had worked at Castle Haven Nursing Home. Visitation and a funeral service were at Strauss Funeral Home in Millstadt. Gasser, 91, formerly of Columbia, died Dec. 10, 2006, in Shawnee, Okla. He was born Nov. 21, 1915, in Floraville, the son of the late Otto and Frieda Gasser nee Bryant. He was married to the late Mildred “Millie” Gasser nee Roberts for more than 50 years. Mr. Gasser is survived by his sister Delores Eddy of Carlinville and companion Lola Pancini of Shawnee, Okla. Mr. Gasser retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #581 in Columbia. He enjoyed woodworking, particularly furniture-making and caning. He also enjoyed traveling, wine making, reading and fishing. Schumacher, 36, died Dec. 10, 2006, in Union, Tenn. He was born Feb. 23, 1970, in Belleville, the son of Lester and Shirley Schumacher nee Block of Columbia. Mrs. Sendelbeck is survived by her sisters Verona (Clarence) Sendelbeck of Waterloo, and Ellen (Spencer) Kipping of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Henry W. Lerch and niece Jane Lerch. Mrs. Sendelbeck was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Retired Teachers Association. She married the late Arnold “Skip” Schmidt in 1941; he preceded her in death in 2002. Aurelia Marie “Nona” Ludwig nee Ruez, 98, of Prairie du Rocher, died Dec. 12, 2006, in Chester. She was born Sept. 11, 1908, in Prairie du Rocher, the daughter of the late Amadee and Jeanette Marie Ruez nee Peyrot. She married the late Albert Ludwig in 1931; he preceded her in death in 1985. She was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Greenville. She was married to Tony Masilonus. Mrs. Masilonus is survived by her husband; daughter Cindy Baltz of Millstadt; grandchildren Jacob (Diane) Baltz, Neal Baltz and Eric Baltz; great-grandchildren Brayden Baltz and Abigail Baltz; and other relatives and friends. He was born June 2, 1947, in Belleville, the son of the late Joseph George and Vivian M. Freund Sr. nee Grahlherr. Mr. Freund is survived by his siblings Sister Elaine Freund A.S.C. of Waterloo, Marcia (Clarence) Kloth Jr. of Walsh, Dr. Joseph (Valerie) Freund Jr. of Marietta, Ga., Stephen Freund of St. Louis, and Earl (Pamela nee Lloyd) Freund of Murphysboro; nieces and nephews Eric, Joshua, Justin, Andrew, Nicholas, Colin, Pamela and Beth; one great-niece; one great-nephew; good friend Doris Szarek of Sparta; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kurtiss Leroy Freund. Mr. Freund spent 42 ½ years in nursing homes, hospitals, shelter care residences, group homes and the home of good friends Doris and the late Charles Szarek of Sparta. He was an avid basketball fan and, until recently, could remember the stats of players from his high school basketball team days. His friendly demeanor was visible when he wanted to introduce a visiting relative or friend to each staff member at his place of residence. He tried to keep his mind alert as long as he could. His family thanks the caring staff of each of the homes where he was given care, especially the Atrium Health Care and Rehabilitation Center of Cahokia, where he last resided. Howard nee Clements, 73, of Columbia, died Dec. 15, 2006, in Columbia. She was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Owensboro, Ky., the daughter of the late Augustine and Theresa Pearl Clements nee Stallings. Ms. Howard is survived by her children Jania (Robert) Frey of Columbia, Norman Howard of Columbia, Andrea (Donald) Eckert of Columbia, and Renee (David) Ivens of Columbia; grandchildren Michael (Melissa) Kohlenberger, Allison Eckert, Adam Eckert, Lauren Zoeller, Jessica Howard and Alexander Howard; great-grandson Michael Reeve Kohlenberger; brother Harold (Marilyn) Clements of Owensboro, Ky.; and sisters Mary Jane Roberts of Owensboro, Ky., Marjorie Early of Owensboro, Ky., and Helen Payne of Owensboro, Ky. Meyer nee Loewe. Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife; sons Kenneth C. (Elizabeth) Meyer of Columbia, and David K. (Leslie) Meyer of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mildred Meyer of St. Louis; son-in-law Joe Van de Riet of Waterloo; and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Elizabeth Van de Riet, and brothers Elwood Meyer and Glenn Meyer. Mr. Meyer was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tipton. Klaus Josef Linke, 68, of East Carondelet, died Dec. 16, 2006, in East Carondelet. He was born July 26, 1938, in Berlin, Germany, the son of the late Karl and Anna Linke nee Langer. He was married to Viola Linke nee Bordewisch for 43 years. Mr. Linke is survived by his wife; daughters Janice Reeves of East Carondelet, Dawn (Milton) Cron of Belleville, and Robyn Linke of St. Louis; granddaughters JoLynn, JuliAnn, Nicole and JenniLee; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Roger Vail, and brother Gunther Linke. Mr. Linke was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo. He came to the United States in 1951 and became a U.S. citizen Dec. 30, 1958. He retired in 2002 after 35 years of service with Unisource / Georgia-Pacific. James Rehg, 82, of Brownsville, Texas, died Dec. 16, 2006, in Olmito, Texas. He was born Nov. 22, 1924, in Sugarloaf Township, the son of the late Nicholas and Clara Rehg nee Burg. He was married to Frances L. Rehg for 10 years. Mr. Rehg is survived by his wife; daughter Sharon (Raymond) Farro of California; grandsons Bradley Elkin, Andrew Elkin and James Kent Wagner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann Rehg nee Schulte; daughter Jeanne Wagner; infant son James Kent Rehg; brother Edward Rehg and sister Helen Mueth. Mr. Rehg owned a car dealership in Freeburg for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having joined in 1943 and serving in Italy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7980 in Millstadt and was a member of the American Legion Post 58 Freedom Farm in Freeburg. He was also a lifetime member of the machinist union. He lived most of his life in Illinois and traveled a lot to Germany. He lived in Arizona in the winters and traveled to Brownsville, Texas, before making a final move there in 1998. He married the late Jewell Wittenbrink in 1945. He then married the late Theda Porter Weber nee DeRousse. Mr. Currat is survived by his sister Maxine Wright of Red Bud and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; sister Beulah McIntyre and nephew Larry McIntyre. Mr. Currat owned and operated Snap & Jules Tavern in Modoc for 25 years. HE also owned and operated Snap & Jules Ferry Boat from Modoc to Ste. Genevieve. He worked for the Illinois Highway Department, Fairmont Racetrack, Johnson County Asphalt Co., and was sheriff of Randolph County for 16 years. While in Columbia she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monroe County Home Extension, and was employed as cook at Immaculate Conception School and Parkview Elementary School. He established the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale Edgar and Bonnie Zimmer law scholarship in 1984, and established the Zimmer family Foundation in 1997 to provide college scholarships to area students. Carl Wayne Patton, 85, of West Frankfort, died Nov. 30, 2006. He was born March 29, 1921, in Millersburg, Ind., the son of the late Archie and Mable Patton. He married Evelyn Patton nee Fleck in 1948. Mr. Patton is survived by his wife; children Dennis (Sue) Patton of Columbia, Terry (Gary) Warren of West Frankfort, Ind., and David (Theresa) Patton of West Frankfort, Ind.; brother Kenneth and sister Shirley. Mr. Patton was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in West Frankfort. He served his country as a U.S. Marine for four years, serving in the Pacific Theatre and surviving the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He retired from Central Illinois Public Service Company (now Ameren / IP) after 34 years and was a member of the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Patton’s family remembers him as their cornerstone, missed for his wisdom, loving ways, sense of humor, teasing aggravation, blue eyes and loving smile. He had a passion for the outdoors as an avid fisherman and great hunter. He will be remembered for his never-ending thirst to serve and care for his family and to give to those less fortunate. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter-in-law Marti Trodus, granddaughter Annette Michelle Pratt, sisters Anna and Mary, and brothers Anthony, Steve, Joseph, Frank, Leo, Charles, Joseph, Adam and John in infancy. Mr. Trodus was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was in Company C, 401st Engineer battalion, where he achieved the rank of tech 4. While in the infantry division he marched through Northern Africa, Italy and Sicily. He was a retired maintenance worker for Hussmann Refrigeration in Bridgeton, Mo. He was a member of the American Legion Post 485 in Dupo, was a lifetime member of VFW Post 805 in O’Fallon, and was a member of Anglers and Falling Springs Conservation Club. Visitation was at Dashner Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo, Fr. Paul Wienhoff officiating. He is buried at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Anna Myrtle Andres nee Linker, 92, of Valmeyer, died Sept. 5, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret Linker nee Weber. She was married to George Andres Sr. Mrs. Andres is survived by her children Mary Ann (Curtis) Henke of Pittsburgh, Mo., Barbara Meyer of Kirkwood, Mo., George (Pam) Andres of Edwardsville, and Margie (Bob) Kuhlman of Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Eugene (Wilma) Linker of Waterloo, Martha (Mac) McNutty of Norwood, N.Y., Peggy Gray of Omaha, Neb., Betty Benz of Valmeyer, and Louise (Floyd) Kohnz of Waterloo; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dorothy Danley, brother Jerry Linker and son-in-law Richard Meyer. Mrs. Linker was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Valmeyer. She was born Sept. 5, 1950, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Eddy and Ruth Ann Schneeberger nee Schlemmer, Ham. She was married to Kenny Rodenberg. Mrs. Rodenberg is survived by her husband; children John David Hern and Richard A. Hern; step-children Kenny Rodenberg and Jami Rodenberg; grandchildren Ryan Hern, Tiffani Hern, Tyler Hern, Tori Hern and Taylor Hern; daughter-in-law Kath Hern; brothers Bob Ham and John Schneeberger; sister Barbara Brown; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Albright, brother Eddy Schneeberger and aunt Mamie Schlemmer. She was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Prairie du Long Township, the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Kreher nee Hoernschemeyer, and the step-daughter of the late Mathilda Kreher nee Maurer. She was married to the late Arthur Schaefer; he preceded her in death in 1975. Paula Denise Madden nee McFarland, 43, of Dupo, died Sept. 10, 2006, in St. Louis. She was born July 3, 1963, in Patuxon River, Md., the daughter of Darrell McFarland and Barbara McFarland nee Tyler. Mrs. McFarland is survived by her parents; children Shannon McFarland, Erin Madden, Erica Madden and Jimmy Madden; niece Fallon McFarland; and aunts, an uncle, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Carlis Lynn McFarland; maternal grandparents John and Helen Tyler and paternal grandparents Archie and Carlis McFarland. She was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Maeystown, the daughter of the late Henry and Emma Hoerr nee Rodenberg. She was preceded in death by husbands Arnold Rippelmeyer and Oliver Frisch. Mrs. Rippelmeyer is survived by her children Marlene L. (Leroy) Vogel-Karsten of Marissa, and Darrel R. (Donna) Rippelmeyer of Belleville; grandchildren Susan Mouser of Swansea, Scott (Bridget) Vogel of Blair, Brian S.
