Marie C. Miles, 98, of Waterloo, formerly of St. Louis and Carbondale, died Dec. 6 at Oak Hill in Waterloo. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen (Howard) Hood; a son, John (Donna) Miles; a brother, Bernard Mikus; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial mass was celebrated at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale Monday, Dec. 17. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, next to her late husband Leroy, their two infant sons, her parents, brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.

Paul H. Brinkmann Sr., 73, of Dupo, died Dec. 7, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. He was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Waterloo, the son of the late John and Catherine (Korte) Brinkmann. He married to LaVerne Bordewisch on Oct. 29, 1955, in Dupo. He was a life member of Columbia Blue Lodge #474 A.F. & A.M., Mended Hearts Chapter 120 of St. Louis, Gasoline and Engine Club of Missouri and Illinois, Compasses Guild - Masons of Union Electric in St. Louis. He worked with the Cub Scouts in Dupo for many years and served as a Cub Master. He was a Past Watchman of Shepards of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem - Mission Shrine #102 and served 21 months in the U. S. Army in Germany following the Korean Conflict. He retired as a motor transportation supervisor from Ameren U.E. in June 1993, after 32 years of service. Paul enjoyed his family, especially the granddaughters, antique tractors and woodworking. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Paul Brinkmann Jr. and Jeff (Janet) Brinkmann, all of Dupo; granddaughters Christie and Courtney Brinkmann; brother Wilbur (Irma) Brinkmann of Waterloo; sisters-in-law Jean (Dave) Wiese and Karon (Roy) Bicklein of Waterloo, Viola Linke of Dupo, and Sharon (Gary) Donnell of Duluth, Ga.; an aunt, Ruth Raitt; godchildren, nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cletus "Cookie" Brinkmann; sister, Esther Mehrtens, a brother and sister in infancy; in-laws Clifford, Sr. and Alma (Weissenborn) Bordewisch; brother-in-law, Klaus Linke; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clifford Jr. and Marie Bordewisch. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia, where Masonic services were conducted. The funeral service was at Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo, with Rev. Kim Kelly officiating. He was buried at Zion Bohnemeier Cemetery in East Carondelet. Contributions may be made to the church's elevator fund or Shriner's Hospital for Children.  

Eleanora M. Arras, nee Hofstetter, 90, Belleville, formerly of East Carondelet, died Saturday, Dec. 8, at Four Fountains Care Center. She was born June 28, 1917 in Centreville, the daughter of the late Walter Hofstetter and Wilhelmina (Metter) Hofstetter. She was married to the late Erwin L. Arras, who died March 4, 2007. She was a member of the Women's Guild at Christ United Church of Christ in Dupo. Survivors include a son, Dennis (Phyllis) Arras of Belleville; grandchildren Kimberly (Glenn) Holtmann of Germantown and Cindy (Tom) Wolf of Belleville; great-grandchildren Kelly Holtmann, Scott (Fran) Holtmann, and Hannah Wolf; great-great-grandchildren Landon and Jason Holtmann; and sister-in-law, Bernice Arras of Columbia. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home, where a funeral service was held, Rev. Kim Kelly officiating. She was buried at Zion Bohnemeier Cemetery in East Carondelet. Katherine Garner, 90, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Lebanon and Springfield, Mo., died Dec. 8. She was the first child of the late Hugo and Martha Dashner Bremser of Waterloo. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garner, who died in 1999; a sister and brother-in-law; and two step-daughters. Survivors include a son, John Garner. She was cremated and there were no services. Arrangements by Charter Funerals. Local arrangements were handled by Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia.

Marcellus N. Flach, 89, of Belleville, died Dec. 10, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. He was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Belleville. Mr. Flach served in the Army during World War II and was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He previously ran a tobacco route into Maeystown and other Monroe County areas. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Cathedral Parish in Belleville, where he counted the Sunday collection for 30 years. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society at Cathedral. Marcellus was a 65-year and honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus - Belleville Council 1028. He was an avid bowler for over 70 years with a high game of 277. He also loved to play cards and dance. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Imogene, nee Stock, Flach, who died March 8, 1977; his second wife of 23 years, Otha, nee Taake, Linnemann-Flach, who died March 6, 2002; parents, Joseph J. and Mary nee Benedick Flach; his only brother, Leo C. Flach; and Leo's wife, Josephine, nee Luksza, Flach. Survivors include nephews Robert L. (Bonnie nee Howard) Flach of Millstadt and David L. (Diane nee Brueggemann) Flach of Mascoutah; great-nieces; two great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; step-children James (Ruth) Linnemann of Haslett, Mich., Joyce (Robert) Kitchell of Collinsville, Michael (Carolyn) Linnemann of Carlock, Alan (Cheryl) Linnemann of Waterloo and Carol (Floyd) Floarke of Valmeyer; step-grandchildren Rachel Linnemann, Katie Kitchell, Sarah, Kyle and Michael Steven (Terri) Linnemann; Brian, Nicholas, Charles and Rebecca Beall; Bryan, Laura and Matt Linnemann; and Jennifer, David and Michael (Kari Bouse) Berg; and step-great-grandchildren Emma Berg and Levi Berg. Harold G. K. Agne, 86, of Belleville died Dec. 11, 2007, at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion. He was born July 29, 1921, in Belleville, the son of the late August and Otillia, nee Huwer, Agne. He was preceded in death by his wife, June nee Borders Agne; brothers Marvin Jerome August Agne and Tillo Robert Phillip Agne; and a sister, Melusine Lydia Otillia Henninger. Survivors include children Alderman James Harold (Carolyn) Agne of Columbia, Curt Allen (Jeanette) Agne of Belleville, Terry Marvin Agne of Villa Ricca, Ga., and Joan Louise (Joseph) English and Janet Sue (Donald) Dick of Belleville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Harold worked with his family business, Belleville Dairy Distributing then served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II in the Pacific campaign, obtaining the rank of T/Sgt. He operated Terry TV Service for 40 forty years before retiring in 1985.  He served as Master Counselor for Tancred Chapter Order of DeMolay and received the DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was also a Master Mason and a member of the Belleville Shrine. He served as commander of American Legion Belleville Post 58 from 1962 to 1963. Funeral arrangements were handled by George Renner and Sons Funeral Home in Belleville. He was buried with military honors at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Ethel L. Rohlfing, 85, of Red Bud died Monday, Dec. 17. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Rohlfing, Sr. She was born May 11, 1922 at Valmeyer the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna K. (nee Hess) Lerch, Sr. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Rohlfing, Jr.; two brothers, Harold H. (Margie) Lerch and Theodore W. (Betty) Lerch, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Alois (Lavern) Rohlfing; sisters-in-law, Edith Lerch and Billie Lerch; nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carlyle J. Lerch, Sr., Arlyn H. (Stumpy) Lerch and Robert E. Lerch; his in-laws, Albert and Emma (nee Rippelmeyer) Rohlfing; and a sister-in-law, Delores (Robert) Lerch. She was a member of St. John UCC, the Valmeyer American Legion Auxiliary, the Retired Teachers Association, Red Bud Women’s Club, the Red Bud Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation was at the Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral was conducted Friday, Dec. 17 at St. John United Church of Christ in Valmeyer the Rev. David Riebeling officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.

Shelley Ann Warden, 32, of Dupo, died Dec. 20, 2007, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was born April 9, 1975, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Keith Warden and Carol Warden. She was preceded in death by her niece, Jamie Cornelius. Survivors include her father, Keith (Mary) Warden Sr., her moth Carol Warden; sisters Sherry (Jim) Cornelius and Tammy Warden; brother Keith (Erica) Warden Jr.; step-sister Robin (Greg) Billmeyer; and nephews James, Jonathan and Ashley Cornelius. She was a supervisor for HBE Corp., and was a member of Roof Top Community Church in Afton. A visitation was at Dashner Funeral Home in Dupo, where a funeral service was officiated by Rev. Matt Herndon. She was buried at Green Mount Cemetery in Belleville. Memorials may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness or the Lymphoma Society.

Dennis W. Kempf, 55, of Columbia died Dec. 24, at his home. He was born Sunday, May 4, 1952 in East St. Louis, the son of Hazel C. Kempf, nee Hoepfinger and the late Omer W. Kempf. Besides his mother, Mr. Kempf is survived by sons Jamie (Jennifer) Kempf and Jared A. Kempf; sisters Carolyn (Richard ) Hill and Kathleen D. Muskopf; grandchildren Cody and Emily Kempf; and nephews Jason (Mary) Moore, Eric, Evan and Adam Muskopf. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister in infancy, June Ann Kempf. He was retired from Ameren Union Electric in St. Louis. Visitation Saturday, Jan. 5, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Lawlor Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Bailey Burton, 73, of Waterloo, died Dec. 25, in St. Louis, Mo. He was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Vandalia, Mo., the son of Ralph (Margaret) Burton and Elizabeth Hoffman nee Bailey. Survivors include his parents; wife, Carol Burton nee Magnan; sons Matthew, Andrew (Patricia) and John Burton, sister, Ann (Ernest) Hoodl and step-brother, William (Beth) Hammond. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force, received a forestry degree from the University of Illinois in 1962 and worked for the U.S. Forest Service until his retirement in 1990 and was a avid photographer. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral service was at the funeral home, with Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein officiating. Memorials may be made to the Nature Conservancy or the University of Illinois Scholarship Fund.

Henry Seboldt, 81, of Fults, died Dec. 25, in St. Louis. He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Renault, the son of the late Phillip and Katherine nee Heller Seboldt. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Brown; and brothers Ralph and Gilbert Seboldt. Survivors include sister, Vera Heitert; sister-in-law, Estelle (Glenn) Sauerwein; and nieces and nephews Ronnie (Paschal) Heitert, Kenneth (Vicki) Heitert, Sharon (Jim) Ryan, George Brown, Thomas Brown, Carol Brown, Pam (Mike) Reilly, Linda (Bob) Keller, Jim (Connie) Seboldt, Barb (Jim) Duzan and Mark (Brenda) Seboldt. He was a Korean War Veteran who was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, the Renault American Legion and the Monroe County Farm Bureau. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral service was at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, with Pastor Ralph Laufer officiating. He was buried at the church's cemetery. Albert "Al" Tounsand, 73, of Dupo, died Dec. 26, 2007, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1934, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., the son of the late Ira and Lela nee Hale Tounsand. He was a retired auto body man in St. Louis, Mo. He is preceded in death siblings Lee, Hazel, Phyllis, Earl, Herbert and Paul Michael. Survivors include wife, Freida Tounsand nee Bruce; children Alan (Holly) Tounsand of Cibolo, Tex., David (Carla) Tounsand of Bon Terre, Mo., and Marsha (Chuck) Kramer of Dupo; grandchildren Melody, Frank, Donnie and Monica Tounsand; and brothers Jeff (Jackie) Tounsand, Gene (Mary) Tounsand, Art (Rose) Tounsand and Rabon (Tony) Tounsand, all of Arkansas. Joseph Frank Jr., 68, of Waterloo died Dec. 2 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis. He was the husband of Nancy Frank (nee Nobbe). Mr. Frank was born April 14, 1939 in Yugoslavia, the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Maria Frank. He immigrated with his family to the United States at the age of 12 and later served in the U.S. Army. He became a United States citizen on Dec. 7, 1973. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Michael (Julie) Frank, David (Katie) Frank and Kimberly Frank; four grandchildren, Joey and Ryan Frank and Alex and Maddie Frank; four brothers, Paul Frank, Franz (Hilda) Frank, Steven (Mary) Frank and Matthew (Linda) Frank; and sisters Cathy Placht and Mary (John) Brazelton; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister. Visitation was at the Quernheim Funeral Home with burial at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery.

Dennis W. Kempf, 55, of Columbia died Dec. 24, at his home. He was born Sunday, May 4, 1952 in East St. Louis, the son of Hazel C. Kempf, nee Hoepfinger and the late Omer W. Kempf. Besides his mother, Mr. Kempf is survived by sons Jamie (Jennifer) Kempf and Jared A. Kempf; sisters Carolyn (Richard ) Hill and Kathleen D. Robert Bailey Burton, 73, of Waterloo, died Dec. 25, in St. Louis, Mo. He was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Vandalia, Mo., the son of Ralph (Margaret) Burton and Elizabeth Hoffman nee Bailey. Survivors include his parents; wife, Carol Burton nee Magnan; sons Matthew, Andrew (Patricia) and John Burton, sister, Ann (Ernest) Hoodl and step-brother, William (Beth) Hammond. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force, received a forestry degree from the University of Illinois in 1962 and worked for the U.S. Forest Service until his retirement in 1990 and was a avid photographer. Mrs. Plant is survived by her siblings Lillian (Alvin) Otten of Smithton, Grover (Marion) Scharf of Belleville, and Virginia Scharf of Millstadt; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Melvin Scharf and William E. Scharf, and sisters Myrtle Wirth, Marion Pfeffer and Mildred Wells. Mrs. Plant was a member of the Eastern Star. Her last name Plant and residents in Florissant, which means Valley of the Flowers in French were appropriate because of her love of flowers. Thomas Edward Austin, 83, of Columbia, formerly of East Carondelet, died Nov. 9, 2007, in Columbia. He was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the son of the late George and Ida Elizabeth Austin nee Dean, who died in 1929; he was raised by his uncle, the late Tom Hampton. He was married to Virginia Austin nee Barker for 62 years. Mr. Austin is survived by his wife; children Larry E. (Georgia) Austin of Imperial, Mo., Carol A (Glenn) Bourndstein of Waterloo, Philip “Pete” (Sandy) Austin of St. Louis, Robert “Warren” (Linda) Austin of East Carondelet, and Paul W. Austin of Granite City; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt Sarah Jane Hampton nee Dean, and uncle Tom Hampton. Mr. Austin retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad after 30 years as a car man and was a member of the Brotherhood of the Railroad. He was a well-known painter, bee keeper, butcher and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion. Mrs. Wetzler was born Sept. 10, 1912 in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Oexner) Schneider. Survivors include a son, Donald (Priscilla) Wetzler; grandchildren Dale and Sandra Wetzler, Carol and Bob Beebe; great-grandchildren Jeoff Wetzler, Kristy Beebe and Stacy Beebe. James P. Roberts, 64, of Waterloo died Nov. 15 in St. Louis. He was the husband of Donna J. Roberts (nee Jenkins). Jewell L. Rains nee Chamness, 101, of Columbia, formerly of Dupo, died Nov. 15 at Columbia Convalescent Center. She was born March 20, 1906 at Williamson County, the daughter of the late George C. and Leatha (nee Mitchell) Chamness. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Milo Everett Rains; and sons James Rains and Robert Rains. She is survived by a son, Kenneth (Merlean) Rains; a daughter, Rose Marie Sutter; a brother, Vernia Lee Chamness; a sister, Olivia “Sis” Rains; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Rains was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Dupo. Visitation was at the First Baptist Church where a funeral was conducted Sunday, Nov. 18, the Rev. Rick Lay officiating. Burial was at the Valhalla Gardens of Memory where a graveside service was conducted Monday, Nov. 19.

Otto A. Kinkel, 79, of New Athens, died Nov. 16 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Nov. 4, 1928 in Millstadt Township, the son of the late Alvin and Frieda Kinkel. He is survived by his wife Flora (nee Runge); children, Sharon Heller, Shirley (Richard) Corey and Harold Kinkel; a daughter-in-law, Jo Kinkel; grandchildren, Michael Heller, Angela Gladson, Brian Corey, Darrin Corey and Alex Kinkel; great-grandson, Austin Corey; a brother, Clyde L. Kinkel; other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kinkel, and a grandson, Jeff Kinkel. Mr. Kinkel retired from Singer in Red Bud and was a member of the Hecker Sportsman’s Club. Visitation was at the Strauss Funeral Home in Millstadt where a funeral was conducted. Johnny F. DeRossett, 61, of Columbia, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. He was born August 15, 1946 in Red Bud, son of the late Johnny DeRossett and Helen Faye nee Jones Cox of Fairview Heights. He was the husband of Bernadine nee Storll, DeRossett. They were married on October 13, 1984, in Belleville. He was employed as a machinist for Marsh Stencil Co. in Belleville. Surviving are his children, Lore Harmon of Clarksville, Tenn., Bobbie (Doug) Lintzenich of Mascoutah, Jonnie (John) Stover of Freeburg, Melanie (John) Garland of Belleville; 9 grandchildren; brothers Gene (Kathy) Walker of Dupo and Stan  Cox of Belleville; sister, Kris Cox of Swansea; and half-sister, Maureen Davis of Alabama. Warren H. Dannehold, 87, of Waterloo died Nov. 17 in St. Louis. He was the husband of the late Edna F. Dannehold and was born Oct. 10, 1920 in Millstadt, the son of the late Leo H. And Rosa J. (nee Kolmer) Dannehold. Survivors include daughters Diane (Gene) Hoffmann and Janell (Mike) Waters; sisters Alberta (Emmett) Hicks, Kathleen Straub and Rosalie (Harold) Baum; brothers Harold (Irene) Dannehold and Eugene Dannehold; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Monroe County Farm Bureau, the Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District and Monroe County Taxpayers Association. Dr. George E. Siemers, 81, a longtime St. Louis doctor who delivered more than 3,000 babies, died Sunday, Nov. 18 of cancer at The Bridges of Columbia Independent and Assisted Living Home. He was formerly a longtime resident of Webster Groves. Dr. Siemers was an obstetrician and gynecologist for more than 30 years in the St. Louis area. He owned a private practice with three locations in south St. Louis County.  He delivered the first set of triplets born at St. Anthony’s, retired in 1988 and sold his practice. Dr. Siemers was a graduate of St. Louis University High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington. He received a medical degree from Loyola Medical School in Chicago. Dr. Siemers was an Air Force veteran who attained the rank of captain. Dr. Siemers married Janet Miller Siemers of University City in 1950. She died in 2001. Survivors include three sons, Skip Siemers of Denver, Steven Siemers of Des Peres and Ed Siemers of Waterloo; three daughters, Louise Kenny of Deerfield, Judy Guasco of New Orleans and Ginny Larson of Sappington; and 14 grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Old Cathedral in St. Louis. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis. Eva Marie Sullivan nee Price, 81, of Dupo died Nov. 19 at her home. She was born July 1, 1926 at Thayer, Mo., the daughter of the late Harvey Price and Beurah Hogan nee Childres. Survivors include a brother, Nathan (Mary) Price; grandchildren, Josh Sullivan, Nathan Sullivan and Eva Sullivan; a niece, Susan (Mike) Sager; other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven R. Sullivan; a sister, Doris Price and a brother, Olen Price. Robert Allen Phegley II, 21, of Millstadt died Monday, Nov. 19, at his home. He was the son of Jacqueline (Andrew) Kirchhoefer and Robert A. Phegley, Sr. He was born March 1, 1986 in Belleville. Besides his parents, he is survived by sisters Krystal (Darrell) Chamberlain and Alexis Carmack; a nephew, Riley Chamberlain; grandparents, Ray and Betty Nast and Kathy Phegley; other relatives and friends. Lloyd J. “Bud” Dauderman, 85, of Millstadt died Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. He was born Aug. 2, 1922 in Alhambra the son of the late Walter and Irma (nee Bliesch) Dauderman. He is survived by his wife Peggy (nee Keppell) Dauderman; a daughter, Shelley Dauderman and other relatives and friends. Mr. Dauderman was retired from the Corvette Division of General Motors Corp. with 30 years of service. He was a member of Red Bud Masonic Lodge #427 A.F. & A.M. and the VFW Post in Baldwin. He was a navy veteran of WWII. Visitation was at the Strauss Funeral Home in Millstadt where a Masonic service was held.

Patricia Toenjes, 62, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Nov. 23, 2007 at St. Anthony’s de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, Mo. A celebration of her life is being planned for a future date. Patricia O’Toole was born Jan. 31, 1945 in Chicago. Her parents, Peter and Mary (Durkin) O’Toole immigrated to this country from County Galway, Ireland and County Mayo, Ireland, respectively. She was baptized, had her first communion and was confirmed at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Chicago. Pat attended the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Jerome L. Toenjes Oct. 27, 1973 in Chicago. They moved to Columbia with their son, Colin, in 1978. Pat worked as a library technician in the Waterloo School District for 28 years. She loved to read, visit with family and friends, watch football and baseball, and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Her love, laughter and wit carry on with her husband, Jerome of Columbia; her son, Colin and his wife Crystal, and grandson, Maxwell, of Norman, Okla.; stepson, Joseph and his wife Anissa, of Kirkwood, Mo.; mother-in-law, Loretta K. Toenjes of Columbia; her brothers Thomas (Linda) O’Toole of Kingwood, Texas; Peter (Lori) O’Toole of Villa Park; sisters Margaret (Patrick) Heneghan of Chicago, Kathryn (Bill) Foley of Mt. Prospect; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Edward Young, 55, of Ruma, died Nov. 25, at his residence. He was born Jan. 24, 1952, in Red Bud to Edward and LaVerne (Wunderlich) Young. He married Suzy Hauty on Jan. 26, 1974, in Evansville, who survives. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Young; and father-in-law, Frank Hauty. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by children, Clay (Heather) Young and Emily Young (special friend Jesse Walter); sister, Loretta (Bob) Kiefer; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hauty; sister-in-law, Sally (Dave) Scott; brother-in-law, Michael Hauty; a niece; nephews; and a host of friends. He was a retired correctional officer at Menard Correctional Center in Chester for 22 years. He also worked for 12 years for Laborers Local #925. He was a member of St. John the Baptist. Wilbur Schwartz, 78, of Modoc, died Nov. 26, at his residence. He was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Prairie du Rocher, to the late Russell and Fern (nee Nicholson) Schwartz. He married Margaret “Pat” Melliere on Sept. 5, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Schwartz; and a brother, Delmar Schwartz. Survivors include brother, Melvin (Verona) Schwartz. He was a retired purchasing agent for Snyder General / AFCO in Red Bud for 44 years. Rose M. Sellers nee Eggemeyer, 71, of East Carondelet, died Nov. 26, 2007, in Belleville. She was born April 5, 1936, in Chester, the daughter of the late Isaac and Mary Eggemeyer nee Roche. She married the late Arley Sellers in 1955; he preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Sellers is survived by her children Ike L. Sellers of East Carondelet, Tina (Tim) M. Fisher of Millstadt, Jeana (Tim) Muskopf of Columbia, Mary Jane Jackson of Perryville, Mo., Glenda (Glen) Deterding of Red Bud, Arley L. Sellers of East Carondelet, and Jesse (Tina) E. Sellers of New Athens; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Rodney (Fern) Eggemeyer of Ellis Grove, Herbert (Joyce) Eggemeyer of Walsh, and Sammy (Millie) Eggemeyer of Walsh; sisters Doris (Oralee) Rahn of Ellis Grove, and Cara Nell Wright of Steeleville. Patricia H. Colyott, 81, of Webster Groves, Mo., formerly of Columbia, died Nov. 26, 2007. She was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Olney, the daughter of the late Oscar and Winifred Hahn nee Eyer. Verneil Mueller, 80, of Red Bud died Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Red Bud Regional Hospital. She was the wife of Ray H. Mueller, whom she married Sept. 1, 1945 in Waterloo. She was born Dec. 29, 1926 in Red Bud, the daughter of the late Henry and Erna (Wegener) Buch. Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, Gilbert (Leona) Buch; two sisters-in-law, Helen Bricker and Bernice Meyer; other relatives and friends. She was a secretary to Dr. Wirth and Drs. Meechia, Tang and Pichet in Waterloo, until her retirement. She had also worked for Singer and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Prairie. Visitation was at the Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home. Carl “Butch” Johnston, 72, of Millstadt died Nov. 27 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. He was the husband of Sharon (nee Hustler) Johnston and they were married 50 years. Mr. Johnston was born Dec. 31, 1934 in East St. Louis, the son of the late Earnest and Hazel (nee Hughes) Johnston. Survivors include a son, Randall (Catherine) Johnston; a daughter, Elizabeth Johnston; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mr. Johnston was retired from Illinois Power Co. with 43 years of service. He was a member of Local 100 and a lifelong member of the Rodeo Cowboy Association. He was a 1960 Missouri State Champion Steer Wrestler. He was also a member of Masons Lodge #852. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Edward, Bob, Donald and John; and sisters Dorothy and Reba; and a daughter, Lee Ann Johnston. Norman John Arras, 55, of Smithton, died Nov. 28, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was the husband of Debra (nee Lingle) Arras. They were married 35 years. Mr. Arras was born Sept. 28, 1952, in Belleville the son of Harry and Betty Arras. Other survivors include children Julie (Curt) Crossley, Jonathan (Erica) Arras and Amanda Arras; a sister, Myra (Ray) Hartgrove; father-in-law, Roy Lingle; nieces, Kim (Adam) Shaw and Valerie Henson; grandchildren, Emily, Curtis, Thomas and Grace Crossley; and other relatives and friends. Edmund E. Stumpf, 94, of Columbia, died Nov. 29, 2007, in Columbia. He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Columbia, the son of the late Fred and Mena Stumpf nee Mehrtens. He was married to Ardell Stumpf nee Taake. Mr. Stumpf is survived by his wife; children Ruth Ann (Marvin) Rodemich of Columbia, Kathleen (John) Harris of Houston, Tex., and Glenn (Lisa) Stumpf of Columbia; grandchildren Scott (Julie) Rodemich, Chris (Bill) Browne, Chad (Katie) Harris, Shannon (Jarrett) Lambo, Jake Stumpf and Jesse Stumpf; five great-grandchildren; sister Adel Stumpf; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Erwin “Butch” Stumpf, and sister Thelma Sparwasser. Mr. Stumpf was an active member of Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover. He was a former director of the Monroe County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the C & W Co-op Board and Waterloo Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed farming, family and traveling. Robert L. Studt Sr., 77, of Columbia died Oct. 3 at Columbia Convalescent Center. He was born Saturday, July 5, 1930 in Renault, the son of the late George and Mary (nee Reed) Studt. Survivors include his wife, Peggy (nee McClenahan) Studt, whom he married June 27, 1953 in  Renault. Also surviving are daughter, Wendy; son, Robert (Frances) Studt; brother, George Studt and sister, Margaret Wagner. There were no public services. Mary Alice Voss, nee Edwards, 67, of East Carondelet died Wednesday, Oct. 3 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. She was born June 10, 1940 in Clinton County.  Mrs. Voss is survived by  daughter, Lisa Shevlin; son, Troy Richard (Kathy) Voss; mother, Alice Edwards; brother, Rodney Edwards; sister, Rhonda (Terry) House; grandchildren Tyler Richard Voss, Ryan Joseph Voss and Kacie Stevers; other relatives and friends. Mrs. Voss was a member of the Friends of the Daugherty Library and was a Cub Scout den mother over 30 years. She was preceded in death by husband, Harry E. David M. Morton, 51, of Waterloo died Oct. 6 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center from complications of a stroke. He was born Dec. 13, 1955 in Belleville, the son of Gloria (nee Weisenborn) Morton and the late Robert M. Morton. Susan Louise Layman, nee Decker, 49, of Waterloo died Oct. 6 in St. Louis. She was born Aug. 25, 1958 in Chester. Donna J. Bagsby, 75, of Millstadt, died Oct. 6 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. She was born July 18, 1932 at Akron, Oh., the daughter of the late Albert and Lola (Casto) Kunkle. She is survived by husband, Tom Bagsby, whom she married July 11, 1953;  daughters, Karen Witte and Janet Bagsby; sons, Larry Bagsby, Gary Bagsby and Tim Bagsby; brothers, Raymond Kunkle and Joseph Kunkle; grandchildren; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Bagsby was as retired ward clerk for St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and a member of the Fairview Heights Home Extension. She was an avid flower gardener, crafter and a proud Cardinals fan. She also liked spending time fishing with her children and grandchildren and watching their many activities. Visitation was at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt. Pearl L. “Patsy” Mueller, 76, of St. Louis died Oct. 7 in St. Louis. She was born Dec. 16, 1930 in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Henry and Marie L. (Nagel) Mueller. Survivors include sisters Helen Bricker and Bernice M. (Harold) Meyer;  brother, Ray H. (Verneil) Mueller; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Nelson and Clyde Mueller. She was a member of Centenary Untied Methodist Church in St. Louis and the church choir. She enjoyed a lifelong appreciation for music. Visitation was at  Quernheim Funeral Home. A graveside service was at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo, the Rev. Kathleen Wilder officiating. Norman E. Chamberlain, 75, of Millstadt died Sunday, Oct 7, at Jefferson Barracks Hospice after a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family at the time of his death. Mr. Chamberlain was born Nov. 26, 1931 in East St. Louis. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Eileen Chamberlain (nee Kozuszek); children Doris (Terry) Kipping; Kevin (Donna) Kujawa; Kenneth (Tammy) Kujawa; Kelly (Will) Odum; grandchildren, Greg (Heather) Kipping, Chris (Dave Jr.) Otten, Melissa (Bill) Huebner; Chad (Jenny) Kujawa; Brandi Kujawa, Heather Kujawa, Casey Odum, Connor Odum and Jacob Kujawa; eight great–grandchildren and many other friends and relatives. Mr. Chamberlain was a retired truck driver. After retirement and before moving to Millstadt, Mr. Chamberlain and his wife owned Nashville Motel in Nashville, IL. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Chamberlain loved camping, traveling, fishing, country and polka music and his wife and family. Visitation was at the Strauss Funeral Home. Allen Lee Bartlett, 43, of Belleville died Oct. 7 at Orangeburg, S.C. He was the husband of Donna M. Bartlett (nee Dickerson).  Mr. Bartlett was born April 1, 1964 in St. Louis, the son of Robert and Dorothy (nee Arnold) Bartlett. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by brothers Dennis (Cheryl) Bartlett and Andrew (Cindy) Bartlett; in-laws, Lonnie and Millie Dickerson; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of the Owner Operator Independent Driver Association. Visitation was at  De Fabio Funeral Home where a funeral was conducted by the Rev. Mark Frizbee. Burial was at St. John UCC of Valmeyer.

Earl H. Asselmeier, 80, of Sparta died Oct. 7 at Sparta Community Hospital. He was the husband of Ruby (Ritter) Asselmeier. Mr. Asselmeier was born Aug. 15, 1927 in Prairie du Rocher, the son of the late Henry and Olinda (nee Mueller) Asselmeier. Besides his wife, Mr. Asselmeier is survived by daughter, Leisa Asselmeier; and  sons, Eric (Shelby) Asselmeier and Craig (Kim) Asselmeier;  brother, Paul Asselmeier; sister, Ferrell (Cookie) Tunze; and four grandchildren. Mr. Asselmeier was the retired owner of Sparta Feed Service, an instrument rated pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. A funeral was at St. John Lutheran Church in Sparta. Burial was at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. McDaniel Funeral Homes of Sparta had charge of arrangements.

Lawrence W. (Larry) Doiron, 63, of Millstadt died Sunday, Oct. 7 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born Sept. 14, 1944 in Red Bud, the son of the late Earl and Josephine (DuClose) Doiron. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen (nee Lemmermann) Doiron, whom he married Sept. 25, 1965 in Evansville; daughter, Laura (Edward) Clark; son, Mark (Krista) Doiron; grandsons, Jared and Adam Clark;  brothers, Gene (Susan) Doiron and Raymond (Claradel) Doiron; sisters, Doris Kloepper and Carol (Larry) Durbin. Besides his parents, Mr. Doiron was preceded in death by brother, Jerry;  and son, Michael Doiron, who died June 30, 2007. Mr. Doiron was a retired master sergeant with the Illinois State Police. He was a uniformed trooper 1968 - 1973 when he joined the detective section. In l986 he headed up an undercover operation that was responsible for the recovery of 91 cars valued at $500,000. Thirty people were arrested, most members of the Disciples gang. He was instrumental in drawing up the rules and regulations for operation of the first riverboat gambling operation at the Alton Belle Casino. He supervised six agents on the boat. Mr. Doiron served three years with the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Unit out of Fort Bragg. He was in Japan two years during that time. Mr. Doiron also enjoyed hunting with his sons and fishing with his brother, Jerry. He was a member of American Legion Post 622 in Prairie du Rocher and was a past commander.  Visitation was at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, where a funeral was officiated by Deacon Ron Karcher. Burial was at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Backstoppers.

Mary Anne Gibbs, nee Schmitt, 60, of Waterloo died Oct. 8 at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of Ken Gibbs. Mrs. Gibbs was born July 18, 1947 in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Wendell G. and Rita E. (nee Vogt) Schmitt. Besides her husband, she is survived by children Tara (Tony) Busch and Jacob Gibbs; two grandchildren, Joseph and Grace Busch; sisters, Jeanne (Greg) Lane, Ruth (Paul) Bankes, Susan (Mike) Kaestner and Nancy (Glen) Eckert; mother-in-law, Irene Akers; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mrs. Gibbs was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and various ministries through the church. She was a past member of the SPPS School Board, the Gibault Mothers Club and the American Cancer Society. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A Funeral mass was celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to SPPS or Gibault Catholic High School.

Edna M. Klein, nee Wuertz, 89, of Waterloo died Oct. 11 in  St. Louis. She was the wife of the late Henry E. Klein Sr. She was born Jan. 24, 1918 in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Edward and Carrie (nee Perryman) Wuertz. Survivors include children Henry E. Klein, Jr. and Linda (George) Foster; sisters Theresa Bumstead, Jean Holtz and Marie Pratt; brothers Richard Wuertz and Daniel Wuertz; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Klein was preceded in death by son, James P. Klein. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Waterloo and the Elks Lodge of St. Louis. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

Violeen Louisa Werling, 87, died at Fountainview Nursing Home, Eldorado on Oct. 12. She was the daughter of the late Walter John and Emma Louisa (Pape) Werling. Survivors include sisters Hilma (Charles) McSparin, Martha Voiles and Colleen (Bill) Smith; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Mrs.Werling was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by brothers James and David Werling. Visitation was at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado. A funeral was at Gospel Assembly Church with the Rev. Shane William Kloth, 20, of Ellis Grove, died as a result of injuries sustained when he was accidentally run over by a train in Prairie du Rocher on Oct. 13. He was the son of James A. and Carmin L. (Stellhorn) Kloth and was born Aug. 4, 1987 in Sparta. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh, an avid hunter and fisherman and a 2005 graduate of Sparta High School. He was a night saw man at Red Bud Industries. Besides his parents, he is survived by  sister, Sahra (Adam) Linnemann; brother, Jared Kloth; nephew, Kaiden Kloth; maternal grandmother, Wilma Stellhorn; paternal grandmother, LaVerne Kloth; aunts, Carol Jackson, Vicki Keller, Barbara Kloth and Sheri (David) Blecha; uncles, Terry (Betsy) Kloth, Gary (Gail) Kloth, Kenneth Kloth, Clarence (Marcia) Kloth, Roy (Georgia) Kloth; and special friend, Ashley Walter. Florence Price nee Schreder, 79, of Millstadt, formerly of Monroe County, died Oct. 13 in Belleville. She was born March 13, 1928 at Madonnaville, the daughter of the late Michael and Theckla (nee Wuertz) Schreder. She was married to the late Wilber “Bud” Price. Survivors include children, Michael J. Price, Marilyn Price, Marsha McCurry and Maxine Sweet; sister, Lucille (Dewey) Meeks; brothers, Albert (Karen) Schreder, Michael Schreder, Roy (Betty) Schreder and Francis Schreder; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Eugene Chaplain, 81, of Dupo died Sunday, Oct. 14 at his home. Mrs. Chaplain was born Sept. 19, 1926 in Dupo, the son of the late Frank and Ada ( nee Kunce) Chaplain. Floyd A. Kohnz, 89, of Waterloo died Oct. 14 in Red Bud. He was the husband of Louise A. Kohnz (nee Koenig). Mrs. Kohnz was born June 20, 1918 in Valmeyer, the son of the late Peter and Mary (nee Weber) Kohnz. Harold E. DeMond, 89, of Evansville, died Oct. 15, in St. Louis. He was the husband of the late Frieda A. (nee Largent) DeMond. Mr. DeMond was born April 23, 1918, in St. Elmo, the son of the late Emmett and Nellie (nee Mathis) DeMond. Survivors include children Darold (Sharon) DeMond, Marion (Lois Ann) DeMond, Emma Sue (Ed. Sr.) Crook-Wienhoff, Roger (Cecilia) DeMond, Nellie (Robert C.) Schlemmer and  Martin (Renee) DeMond; sister, Dorothy Wiedlocker, and a brother, Charles (Ann) DeMond; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Sharolyn Kay Willhite, nee Christensen, 64, of Columbia died Oct. 18, in St. Louis County. She was the wife of David Willhite. Mrs. Willhite was born Nov. 27, 1942  in Central City, Neb., the daughter of the late Carroll and LaVern (nee McHargue) Christensen. Mrs. Willhite is survived by a daughter, Tiana Tymn; a brother, Dean Christensen; a sister, Barbara (Randy) Teel; and grandchildren, Brittany, Brodie and  Brooklyn Nelson. Ardell Lydia Vogt, nee Mueller, 89, of Columbia died Oct. 19 at Oak Hill Care Center in Waterloo. She was born June 6, 1918 in Maeystown, the daughter of the late Henry Mueller and Augusta Hoffmann. She was married to the late Lorenzo W. Vogt on Oct. 1, 1940 in St. Louis. He died Dec. 31, 2004.  Survivors include children Lorraine (Harvey) Hoffmann, Delores (Vernon) Wienhoff, Arlene Vogt, Erlene Gasser, Jay R. (Judy) Vogt, Melvin H. Vogt, Carol (James) Eames; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sisters Pearl (Michael) Halloran and Twila Hankammer; a brother, Ralph (Helen) Mueller; and a sister-in-law, Viola Mueller Roos. Gladys L. “Bounce" Oestreich, nee Kipping, 79, of Waterloo died Oct. 23, in Red Bud. She was the wife of the late Raymond K. “Ace” Oestreich. Mrs. Oestreich was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Grace (nee Andres) Kipping. Merril A. Huch, 79, of Millstadt, formerly of Columbia, died Oct. 24, at Garden Place. He was born Jan. 20, 1928 in Columbia, the son of the late Walter E. and Mildred (nee Stumpf) Huch. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (nee Melliere) Huch. They were married June 7, 1947 in St. Louis. Geneva Christina “Geb” Harvell, nee Wilson, 82, of Tamms, died Oct. 25, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis. She was born Dec. 25, 1924 in Thebes, the daughter of the late James B. and Opal Mae (nee Grant) Wilson. She was married to the late Gerald Harvell who died May 30, 2002. Survivors include  daughter, Diann Kuni; son, Jay (Gail) Harvell; sisters Virginia Goddard, Patsy Brown, Laverne Thompson and Audrey Hillard; grandson, Guy Robert Kuni; granddaughters, Angela Kuni, Kassey Harvell and Karrey Harvell; and aunt, Winifred “Winnie” Hughes. Mathilda M. Schmidt, nee Schroeder, 93, of Columbia died Thursday, Oct. 25 at Columbia Convalescent Center. She was born July 9, 1914, in Harrisonville, the daughter of the late George and Mary (nee Goodman) Schroeder. She was the wife of the late Raymond Schmidt. They were married Aug. 29, 1935 in Columbia. Survivors include a son, Kenneth (Joyce) Schmidt; grandchildren Jan (Robert) Glaenzer, Kevin (Kathy) Schmidt, David (Lisa) Schmidt, Jill (Calvin) Whitford and Julie (Doug) Stinemetz; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Erin, Jared, Reid, Peyton, Danielle, Casey, Brandy, Ashley, Emma and Ava; great- great-grandchild, Dontray; and a sister, Bernell Andres. Stephen Dennis Young, 37, of Waterloo, died Sept. 1, 2007, in Waterloo. He was born May 6, 1970, in Jeffersonville, Ind., the son of Lea Ann Young (Duke) Garbrough nee Brooks of Jeffersonville, Ind., and the late Stephen Young. Mr. Young is survived by his mother and step-father; daughters Kayla Jewel Young of Prairie du Rocher, and Emmalea Elizabeth Young of Prairie du Rocher; siblings Kelly (Leon) Gallahar of Charlestown, Ind., Warren (Karen) Young of Fordsville, Ky., Shawnee (Brandon) Coppage of Fordsville, Ky., and Tracy Bratcher of Fordsville, Ky.; grandparents Joe and Maxine Young of Fordsville, Ky., step-mother Hilda Young of Fordsville, Ky., significant other Wendy Buch of Waterloo, and her children Kelsey, Nathan and Jordan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Young was part owner of Ameritank Inc. in Red Bud. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Leo O. Schultheis, 72, of Prairie du Rocher, died Sept. 2, 2007, in Cahokia. He was born Dec. 7, 1934, in Prairie du Rocher, the son of Vera C. Schultheis of Red Bud and the late Leo C. Schultheis. Mr. Schultheis is survived by his mother; children Sally (Michael) Griffin of Imperial, Mo., and Laurie Schultheis-Phillips of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren Terra (Gary) Gabelman of New Athens, Nicole (Jeff) Nolen of Freeburg, Cathy (Dan) Ruhmann of New Athens, and Lisa Smith of Baldwin; seven great-grandchildren; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Christina Marie Yochum nee Schwartz, 43, of Columbia, died Sept. 1, 2007. She was born June 1, 1964, in Granite City, the daughter of Ella Jane Schwartz nee Allen of St. Louis, and the late Robert Paul Schwartz. She married Stephen Yochum in 1993. Ms. Yochum is survived by her mother; husband; children Ashley, Amanda, Alyssa, Alex and Austin Yochum; siblings Robert (Joan) Schwartz, Bryan (Katie) Schwartz, and Cheryl (Larry) Thomas; half-sister Cindy (Terry) Dittenbur; mother- and father-in-law Harold and Rose Yochum of Waterloo; brothers- and sisters-in-law Mark (Kelly) Yochum, Lisa (Craig) Bower, and Gregory (Rachel) Yochum; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father and brother Bruce Schwartz. Mrs. Yochum was a graduate of Webster University and worked as a optician for Erker’s Optical in St. Louis until 1995, when she became a mother. She will be remembered for her great faith in God. Timothy L. Godier, 44, of Prairie du Rocher, died Sept. 3, 2007, in St. Louis. He was born July 13, 1963, in Red Bud, the son of Floyd and Betty Godier nee Bievenue of Prairie du Rocher. He married Deborah Niermann in 1993. Mr. Godier is survived by his parents; wife; children Chrystle (Terry) Donjon of Ruma, Candace “Petie” Godier and special friend Nick Mudd of Modoc, Gregory Godier of Prairie du Rocher, and Andrea “AJ” Godier of Prairie du Rocher; grandchildren Bryce Donjon, Hayden Donjon and Dalton Mudd; siblings Rick Godier of Chester, Rod Godier of Prairie du Rocher, Dan (Susie) Godier of Waterloo, Renee (Bill) Heidle of Crossville, Tenn., Donald (Arlene) Godier of Prairie du Rocher, Michelle (James) Weber of Prairie du Rocher, and Treva (Scott) McDonough of Ellis Grove; mother- and father-in-law John and Connie Niermann of Red Bud; and brother-in-law Gerry Niermann of Waterloo. He was a member of the Modoc Sportsman’s Club and was a member of the Prairie du Rocher School Board. He was an avid motorcyclist and loved to work on old cars. He could often be seen working outside mowing grass and clearing brush with his tractor. Visitation was at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. Patsy E. Dollins nee Holt, 71, of Dupo, died Sept. 4, 2007, in Waterloo. She was born June 3, 1936, in Rockville, Mo., the daughter of the late Dock and Mayme Eldridge. She was married to the late Melvin L. Godare, then the late Frank Dollins Sr. Mrs. Dollins is survived by her children Mary (Rob) Carner of Dupo, John (Becky) Eldridge of Dupo, and Butch Dollins of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; grandchildren Mickey Godare, Amanda (Joe) Bivins, Patti Godare, Jacob Carner, Meghan (Marv) Carner, Christopher Carner, Tyler Eldridge, Erin Eldridge, Ryan Gloeckner, Joshua Dollins and Brandon Dollins; great-grandchildren Caitlynn Bivins, Sierra Godare and Kyra Godare; brother Charles (Joyce) Eldridge; and other relatives and friends. Helen R. Richter nee Rippelmeyer, 94, of Waterloo, died Sept. 7, 2007, in Waterloo. She was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothea Rippelmeyer nee Nobbe. She was married to the late Arthur H. Richter. Mrs. Richter is survived by her sister Ruth Rippelmeyer of Waterloo; sister-in-law Kathy Rippelmeyer of Waterloo; nieces and nephews John (Diana) Prange, Mary (Rick) Jacobs, Peggy (Rick) Spink, Kerry (Keith) Brinkmann; great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Clara S. Rippelmeyer and Dorothy Prange; and brother Carl L. Rippelmeyer. Mrs. Richter was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She was a former Waterloo teacher and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of Ladies Aid and the Peterstown Heritage Society. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral service was at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pastor Tony Troup officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. June Maxine Scheske nee Austin died Sept. 8, 2007. She was married to Kenneth Scheske. Mrs. Scheske is survived by her husband; children Peggy J. (Lloyd) Charboneau and Robert Broshears; step-children Jerry Scheske, Dennis (Margaret) Scheske and Shirley Ford; 13 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Claude Broshears Jr. and step-son George Broshears. Mrs. Scheske was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in St. Louis, and the Crestwood Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation was at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton, Mo. June Adair Henderson, 79, of Dupo, died Sept. 9, 2007, in Walnut Grove, Mo. She was born May 7, 1928, in Hopkinsville, Ky., the daughter of the late Basil Duke Moss and the late Inez Mae Moss nee Rives. She married Chester W. Henderson in 1955. Mrs. Henderson is survived by her husband; children Chester D. Henderson of Dupo, Tony Henderson of Dupo, Robert Henderson of Dupo, Dennis Pedrick of Valmeyer, Charlotte (Carl) Nickles of Walnut Grove, Mo., Sharon (Bill) Zenthoefer of Londell, Mo., Sheila Sellers of Winter Park, Fla., Sandra (Randy) Buzick of Mt. Olive, Beverly Henderson of Walnut Grove, Mo., and Connie (Mario) Hernandez of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Jim D. Moss; and sister Annie Mae Moss. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Henderson worked as a sales clerk for F.W. Woolworth’s Department store, and as a devoted wife and mother. Wilhelmina Menees nee Thies, 78, died Sept. 10, 2007, in Millstadt. She was born March 19, 1929, in Anna, the daughter of Willie and Mollie Thies nee Angel. She was married to the late Lloyd Menees. Mrs. Menees is survived by her children Shirley (Jerry) McClintock of Belleville, Ivan (Mary) Menees of Millstadt, Barbara (Chester) Barker of Columbia, Lloyd “Buddy” Menees Jr. of Belleville, Mary (Richard) Proctor of Blackshear, Ga., Jerry (Pamela) Menees of Millstadt, and Margie (Randy) Teutrine of Belleville; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Otto Theis of Millstadt, Charlie (Carolyn) Theis of Millstadt, Howard Theis of Dongola, Gilbert (Mary) Theis of Metropolis, Raymond (Georgine) Theis of Anna, Norman (Judy) Theis of Anna, Larry (Gayle) Theis of Anna, Emma (Lowell) Richardson of Millstadt, and Marie Cupp of Belleville; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; parents-in-law Gladys and Floyd Menees; daughter Sally May Etling; grandchildren Timothy Menees, Lloyd Woods Jr., and Lance Reno McCullough; and siblings and in-laws Mary Louise Olson, Elsie Davis and Lena Rocena Theis, Jean Theis, Joann Theis, Opal Theis, James “Bud” Davis, Raymond Olson and Harold Menees. Mrs. Menees donated her body to Genesis Gift of Life for medical education and research. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Rita C. Howell nee LePere, 85, of Columbia, died Sept. 11, 2007, in Belleville. She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Cahokia. Ms. Howell is survived by her son Gregory J. (Yvonne E.) Howell of Waterloo; grandchildren Joseph and Lori Howell of Ferguson, Mo., Christopher and Carol Howell of Waterloo, Yvette and Wes Hoeffken of Columbia, Jeanine and Daniel Muskopf of Millstadt, Rita and Ron Belaska of Brownsboro, Ala., Madelon Howell of Waterloo, Theresa and Michael Gooding of O’Fallon, and Debra and Jim Germann of Mt. Vernon; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Ms. Howell was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. She worked for 35 years as a buyer of women’s gloves, handkerchiefs, scarves, umbrellas and handbags at Stix Baer and Fuller. She enjoyed her family and instilled in her son and grandchildren her great love of the Lake of the Ozarks, travel and picnics. Visitation was at St. Francis Apartment Community Chapel at Our Lady of Snows in Belleville followed by a Mass of Christina Burial. She is buried at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville. Patricia Darlene “Fat Pat” Bunn nee Webb, 62, of St. Louis, died Sept. 11, 2007, in St. Louis. She was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Doniphan, Mo., the daughter of the late Arline Lockhart nee Webb, and Robert Lockhart, whom she thought of as her father. She was married to Russell Ivan “Rocky” Bunn for 20 years. Mrs. Bunn is survived by her husband; daughters Carol (Larry) Beger nee Reeves, and Paul Ball nee Reeves (John Theriault), both of Belleville; granddaughters Crystal Darlene Mitchell of Belleville, Mary May Foster of Belleville, Nicole Marie (Jason) Logsdon nee Ball of Grand Forks, N.D., and Catherine Elizabeth (Shawn) Tesh nee Ball of Tucson, Ariz.; great-grandchildren Elliana Marie Tesh and Noah Thoma Paul Tech, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father. Mrs. Bunn worked at the Garden Gate Tea Room in Granite City until developing lung cancer. Visitation and a funeral service were at Dashner Funeral Home, Rev. Matt Friz officiating. She is buried at New Douglas Cemetery in New Douglas. Estella Stirnaman nee Barker, 57, of Bonne Terre, Mo., formerly of Ruma, died Sept. 12, 2007, in St. Louis. She was born Sept. 12, 1950, in St. Louis, the daughter of Bernadine Barker nee DeRousse and the late Bert Barker. She married Courtland “Buck” Stirnaman in 1985; he preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Stirnaman is survived by her mother; children David Madden of Prairie du Rocher, Zelina (Matthew) West of Sedalia, Mo.; step-children Wayne (Janel) Stirnaman of Arizona, and Doris (Joseph) Neff of Smithton; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Marie (Jim) Pyatt of Murphysboro, and LouAnn (John) Wolz of Millstadt; brothers John (Charlotte) Barker of Columbia, Bart Barker of Waterloo, and Jim (Lisa) Barker of Waterloo; and special friend and loving companion Darrell “Bob” Weible. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; and siblings Jerry Rose, Mary Jane Schrieber and Leonard Kramer. Mrs. Stirnaman was a member of First Baptist Church of Prairie du Rocher.
