Today's News - February 13, 2007 Winter Storm Covers County In Blanket Of Snow ![]() C.J. and Joy Schlemmer clean the snow and ice off the sidewalk in front of Joy’s Hair Affair and Zarkie Music in downtown Columbia. A winter storm has dropped two inches of snow so far today with continued snowfall expected through the remainder of the day. All schools in Monroe County will stay in session until 3 p.m. There have been a few minor car accidents, but no major pile ups. City, county and state highway departments are continuing to plow streets and apply ice-melt. Pork Meeting Still On: Tonight’s Monroe County Pork Producer’s Banquet at Turner is still on, reports Roger and Andrew Schaefer. John Pottoff was admitted to St. Anthony's Hospital for a bad case of pneumonia and a collapsed lung. His wife, Karen, said those wishing to send cards to cheer up ol' Cat can send them to Room 3204. The Waterloo Optimist Club will have their 15th annual fundraising bowling tournament March 2, 3 and 4 at West Park Bowl in Columbia. Proceeds benefit Gibault High School and Waterloo High School. Those wishing to enter a team can contact Dave Goessling at 939-4085.
