Today's News - February 14, 2007

A car slid off of Route 3 just north of the Jaycee’s ball diamonds in Waterloo late last night and landed at the bottom of an embankment. The driver received minor injuries and was treated by the Monroe County Ambulance Service. An IDOT snow plow driver witnessed the accident and stayed with the car’s driver until Waterloo Police Officers Steve Martin, above, and Scott Spencer arrived on the scene.

There were numerous other minor vehicle accidents overnight, but no one was seriously injured.

Pork Producer’s Banquet: Despite the snow and freezing temperature, there was a good turnout at last night’s Monroe County Pork Producer’s Banquet at Columbia’s Turner Hall. President Roger Schaefer scrambled at the last minute to get a replacement guest speaker and a good time was had by all who attended.
