E-Newsletter - March 2, 2007 Country Club Road Signs Vandalized ![]() Nearly all of the street signs along Country Club Lane in Waterloo between Rogers Street and Gilmore Lake Road were vandalized with paint last night. “There were 15 city signs and eight county signs damaged,” said Waterloo Police Officer Jim Trantham. Most of the signs had been put along the road within the past few months. Because of the construction of Country Club Hills subdivision, the speed limit was reduced to 45 m.p.h. in the county, and 35 m.p.h. within the Waterloo city limits. New speed reduction and speed limit signs were put up the past week. A new stop sign was also put at the intersection of Country Club Lane and Sherwood Lane. The damage appeared to reflect animosity of someone not liking the reduced speed limits and stop sign. Most of the speed limit signs had the words “Bull Crap” or “Bull” painted on them. “Drive” was written over stop signs and “Don’t Stop” was spray painted in large letters at the Sherwood Lane intersection. The Waterloo Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the vandalism, but there are no suspects at this time. “It is going to be expensive to repair the damage,” said Trantham. ![]() “Don’t Stop” was spray painted at the new four-way stop at Sherwood Lane and Country Club Lane in Waterloo.
