Memories of '93 Flood

Weekend Wrap-Up - March 18, 2007

Carol and Don Matzenbacher wore their Irish green
while dining Saturday night at JV’s. The place was packed with patrons for their corned beef and cabbage special.

Michael Krebel of Fults proposed to his girlfriend Shannon Melliere today in a very unique way. Mike hopped on his tractor, hooked up the disc and cut a large path of “Will You Marry Me?” in a field just south of downtown Fults. “There have been friends, family and people we don’t even know walking up the Fults Nature Preserve to have a look,” said Judy Krebel, Michael’s mother. The Krebels welcomed everyone inside for a smorgasbord this evening.

Steve Gardner and Randy Bise celebrated March 17 birthdays Saturday at The Outsider in Waterloo.

JV’s Downtown Bar and Grill will be a hopping place Sunday evening for its 22nd anniversary party.

Jude Thomas, R.N., began her duties February 23 as Supportive Living Director at Magnolia Terrace, the supportive living unit at Oak Hill care center in Waterloo.

Randy Scheibe, left, and Mark Bundy enjoy fish plates and beers Friday night at Acorns. The two rooted on the Fighting Illini in the NCAA tournament, but the team lost in the final minutes to Virginia Tech. “It came down to Illinois’ poor free throw ability,” said Bundy.
