David Asselmeier is being treated for a heart condition at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis. He and his wife, Shirley, had to cut their Central American cruise short and head back home.

Steve Mitchell is hoping to return home soon from the hospital. His friends are looking forward to getting him out on the town again soon.

JV’s Downtown Bar and Grill celebrated its 22nd anniversary Sunday night. Patrons enjoyed live music, food and fellowship with owners Jeff and Denise Vogt. Longtime patrons, left to right, Earl Reitz, Bob Krump and Bill Novack have been patronizing the establishment for many years. “I’ve been coming here since the late 1950’s,” said Novack. He said he remembers when it was owned by Sonny Bode, Carl Nobbe, Cletus and Dorothy Welsch, and John Pottoff.
