Old Janson Farm House Used As Practice For Firefighters

The Waterloo Fire Department used the old Janson farm house on Moore Road in Waterloo on Saturday morning to practice their firefighting skills. The home, owned by Glen Schewe, had been vacant for many years and was scheduled to be demolished. Firefighters allowed the home burn to the ground after the exercise was completed.

The Columbia Volunteer Fire Department extinguished a burning trash dumpster late Saturday night behind the Columbia Middle School. Columbia police officers arrested two juveniles soon afterwards near Bolm-Schukraft Park in connection with the fire.

Columbia Police Officer Mike “Muscles” Conrad and Laurie Rippelmeyer, a former Monroe County Fair Queen, were engaged St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, in front of the Old Cathedral in downtown St. Louis.

St. John UCC of Maeystown said goodbye to interim Pastor Ivan Horn today with a reception following morning service. “We were truly blessed to have him serve here the past three years,” said Cletus Hoffmann.
