Accident Victim Recovering: Steven Willett, 47, of rural Waterloo, is in serious but stable condition at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis following yesterday morning’s accident on Route 156, the Hecker Highway.

Longtime Postal Employee Honored


Allen Kern was honored this morning for 30 years of service as a mail carrier at the Columbia Post Office.

Ground work began earlier this week on the new Schnucks Super Center on the north end of Waterloo.

The newly elected political candidates will begin their new terms during the May 7 city and village meetings.

Chelsea Dillenberger is recovering with 10 stitches to her lip following yesterday morning’s four-vehicle fender-bender on Lakeview Drive in Waterloo. Her grandma Lila Mae Dillenberger said she is doing fine and was expected to return to school today.

The American Red Cross is having a blood drive this afternoon at Turner Hall. The Humane Society of Monroe County will have dogs and cats in the parking lot available for adoption.

Conservation Days  At Waterloo Sportsman’s Club

The event is held for area elementary school children each spring through the combined efforts of the Monroe County Farm Bureau, University of Illinois Extension and Illinois Department of Conservation.
