Breaking News - April 26, 2007

Waterloo Woman Killed By Hit And Run Driver
An 18-year-old Waterloo woman was killed this morning at 8:45 a.m. while walking on Main Street in Dupo. The girl was walking along the 1600 block of Main Street with another 14-year-old female. The 18-year-old was struck by a dark colored SUV; the vehicle continued driving northbound on Main Street.

The injured girl was transported to Kenneth Hall Hospital in East St. Louis where she was pronounced dead. The Dupo Police Department continues to search for the SUV.

“The vehicle has damage on the right front side, the right head light, right turn signal, antenna and right side mirror,” reports Dupo Police Officer Jason Cooper.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to contact the Dupo Police Department at 618-286-4884.

Brian and Sarah Knobloch are the proud parents of a son. Christian Andrew Knobloch was born this morning at a hospital near his parent’s home in Highland. Grandparents Elaine and Dennis (Monroe County Clerk) Knobloch left this morning to see their first grand baby.

Charles W. Binnion, 87, of Waterloo, formerly of Dupo, died April 22, 2007, in Waterloo. He was married to the late Dorothy L. Binnion nee Courtright. Survivors include his children Nancy (Larry) Sukup of Columbia, Barb (Doug) Phares of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Charles Binnion of Belleville; grandchildren Michelle (Kevin) Volner of Waterloo, Jeff Sukup of Columbia; Candace (Curt) Cherry of Ballwin, Mo., Josh Binnion of Belleville and Ellen Binnion of Belleville; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Betty Yarborough of Vandalia, and Jean Hall of Mesquite, Texas. Funeral arrangements were handled by Dashner Funeral Home in Dupo.
