Jay Henson Dies In Head-On Collision

Jay Henson, 40, of Waterloo, died in a two-vehicle accident this morning on Route 3, just south of Waterloo. Henson was driving his Buick Regal southbound on Route 3 when he drifted into the path of a northbound concrete truck. Henson was killed instantly. The driver of the Upchurch Concrete truck was not injured.

Henson, son of former Waterloo High School basketball coach Larry Henson, is survived by his wife and three daughters. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Fatal Accident On Route 3 Near John Deere

A car drove into the path of a concrete truck today at 11 a.m., on Route 3 near Old Route 3, just south of Waterloo. The driver of the car, whose name has not yet been identified, was killed instantly. The driver of the Upchurch Concrete truck appeared shaken up, but was not injured.

All lanes of traffic on Route 3 will be diverted to Old State Route 3 for the rest of the afternoon while Illinois State Police accident reconstructionists investigate the cause.
