Wrong-Way Driver Cited For DUI
Sharon Bauer of Red Bud received three traffic
tickets following Saturday night’s wrong-way accident on Route 3
between Columbia and Waterloo. She received citations for DUI,
operating an uninsured vehicle and driving in the wrong lane. Bauer,
and passenger John Bauer, both 59, were driving in a 2002 Pontiac
Grand Am when they collided head-on with a 2001 Fort F250 driven by
Ryan Muench, 21, of Red Bud.
A witness told Illinois State Police he saw Bauer’s
car drive for three miles southbound in the northbound lanes,
forcing several vehicles to swerve out of the way. None of the three
individuals involved required medical attention.
