Figure 8 Race Highlights Wednesday Night At The Monroe County Fair

John Schmitz won first place in the compact car division of the Figure 8 Race. Other trophy winners were Wesley Braswell, second place; and Billy Steppig, third place.

There is free admission to the fair on Thursday. HTC Customer Appreciation Nights features musical group New Odyssey in the main arena at 8 p.m. Other highlights include carnival ride armband night, senior class horse show at 6 p.m. and the market animal auction at 6 p.m. A complete listing of the fair’s schedule is available at www.monroecounty-fair.org.

Recent Obituary
Reno Gastaldi, 89, of St. Louis, died July 24. Survivors include wife, Ruth (Ferkel) Gastaldi; nieces Celia (Ed) Reynolds and Susan Beatty; and cousin, Alma Girard. He was preceded in death by sister, Franca Littlefield; and cousin, Lena DeMont. A memorial service will be on Thursday, August 2, 1 p.m., at Christ Community Church in Columbia, with Lawlor Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
