The Red Bud City Council approved the appointment of Mark Rohr as the city attorney during their Oct. 1 meeting. It had taken the alderman several months to approve Mayor Ken Mueller’s choice to represent the city in legal matters. Rohr is an associate in the Crowder Scoggins Law Firm of Columbia. Waterloo Alderman Charlie Metzger was recognized by the Illinois Municipal Electrical Agency for his 30 years of membership. He was honored during the agency’s annual September meeting in Springfield. A woman received a neck injury after a horse bucked her while riding in the 4300 block of Coxeyville Road in rural Waterloo. The Monroe County Ambulance Service transferred her to an area hospital. A motorcycle driver lost control of his bike Saturday night and wrecked at the intersection of Bluff Road and HH Road. The Monroe County Ambulance Service transported the person to an area hospital with a broken leg. A driver of a car lost control of a vehicle and landed on its side Sunday night at the intersection of GG Road and Gall Road in rural Waterloo. The driver and all occupants were able exit the car without injury. John Valentine of Valmeyer celebrated his 30 birthday with family and friends Saturday night at the Valmeyer American Legion. Acorns Hot Spot Last Saturday: The Valmeyer High School Class of 1987 celebrated their 20-year reunion and the Valmeyer Jaycees held their annual benefit golf tournament. In addition, brothers Don and Dave “Pickle” Dillenberger dined with 8 women, including their mother, Lila. The group gathered for a big meal while their children attended the Waterloo High School Homecoming Dance. Four bulls blocked Aames Road several miles off of Route 3 on Sunday night. Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in removing the animals from the roadway.
Recent Obituaries David Morton, 51, of Columbia, died Oct. 6. Survivors include mother, Gloria Morton nee Weisenborn of Belleville; friend; Jan Bocskowics of Waterloo; daughters, Ashley Morton, Jennifer Morton and Alayna Morton; son, Zachery Morton; Kyle and Ryan Morton; sisters Joyce (Philip) Carpenter and Rachel (Donald) Reveal; and brother, Robert Morton. She was preceded in death by sister, Dianne Morton. Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 9, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral is Wednesday, Oct. 10, 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul UCC of Columbia. |
