Bulldogs Win Waterloo Soccer Invitational

The Waterloo High School soccer team won the Waterloo Soccer Invitational Tournament Tuesday night on their home field. They defeated Highland 2-0 with goals from Dane Dudley and Tyler Breitenstein.

Eagles Robotics Team Featured On Fox 2 News

Fox 2 News morning personality Tim Ezell visited the Columbia High School robotics team Wednesday morning. Several segments of the Fox 2 Morning Show featured the team showing off their remote controlled vehicle they have entered into an upcoming robotics competition.

Recent Obituaries
Mary Anne Gibbs nee Schmitt, 60, of Waterloo, died Oct. 8, at her residence following a brief battle with cancer. She was involved in numerous ministries at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo, a former SPPS school board member, Gibault Mothers Club and American Cancer Society. Survivors include husband, Ken Gibbs; children Tara (Tony) Busch and Jake Gibbs; grandchildren Joseph and Grace Busch; sisters Jeanne (Greg) Lane; Ruth (Paul) Bankes, Susan (Mike) Kaestner and Nancy (Glen) Eckert; and mother-in-law, Irene Akers. She was preceded in death by parents, Wendell and Rita (nee Vogt) Schmitt. Visitation is Friday, Oct. 12, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral is Saturday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m., at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo. Memorial may be made to SPPS Grade School or Gibault High School.

Allen Lee Bartlett, 43, of Belleville, died Oct. 7, in Orangeberg, SC. He is survived by parents, Robert and Dorothy Bartlett; In-laws Lonnie (Millie) Dickerson of Monroe City; and brothers Dennis (Cheryl) Bartlett and Andrew (Cindy) Bartlett. Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 11, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at DeFabio Funeral Home. Funeral is Oct. 12, 11 a.m., at DeFabios. Memorials may be made to the family.
