Pumpkin Flies Through House Window: The Waterloo Police Department is looking for suspects who may be responsible for an act of vandalism Halloween night. At 11 p.m., a pumpkin crashed through a picture window at the home of Sherri and Ross Goessling on Washington Drive in Waterloo. Before fleeing the scene the vandals also destroyed a scarecrow and several pumpkins located in the Goessling’s front yard. Those with information are asked to contact the Waterloo Police Department.
SUV And Motorcycle Collide On Main Street Waterloo firefighter Brian Lenhardt is recovering from a back injury following a three-vehicle earlier this week. Lenhardt, with passenger, fellow firefighter David Bode, were in a fire truck and had just left Waterloo Walgreen’s after purchasing some items for the Halloween candy checkpoint at the firehouse. As the light turned green they began to cross the North Market and Route 3 intersection. The two soon noticed a car driven by 16-year-old Chelsea Jones of Waterloo coming at them. Jones drove through a red light and collided with the rear section of the fire truck. The collision pushed the fire truck into the side of a Chrysler car occupied by Don and Carol Matzenbacher of Waterloo. Jones was ticketed for disobeying a traffic signal. The Valmeyer Fire Department was called out Thursday to Bluff Road to put out a fire in the bed of a GMC truck. The truck was hauling a barbecue grill when ashes, cornstalks and grass caught on fire. Destroyed in the blaze were the grill, a window air conditioner and a deer stand. Donors who reached milestones at the recent Red Cross Blood Drive at Turner Hall are Mandy Denison, 1 gallon; Roger Raglin, 1 gallon; Deborah Sander, 1 gallon; Ellen Grueninger, 3 gallons; Raymond Griesbach, 5 gallons; Carol Dexter, 8 gallons; and Helma Kleinschmidt, 13 gallons. The next Turner Hall blood drive is December 18, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Eric and Rhonda (Schanz from home) Major had a baby girl on Oct. 26. Charli Marie was 8 pounds, 4 ounces and 20-1/2 inches long – the exact measurements of her mother at birth. Her grandpa Ken Schanz and great grandpa Willis Brand both predicted the exact birth date. Proud papa Eric missed coaching the WHS football team in their playoff game at Marion to stay with his wife and newborn. Aunt Angie Schanz flew in from Baltimore and arrived at the hospital four minutes after the baby was born. Grandparents Nancy and Kenny Schanz of Waterloo are also very excited about the birth. Alan and Maribeth Eschmann are saying “Thanks For The Memories” on Friday, Nov. 2, at Eschy’s in downtown Maeystown. They have sold the establishment and are throwing a last bash. A Hawaiian Luau Party is the evening’s theme. “Come get lei’d for the last time at Eschy's,” said Maribeth. They are inviting all their patrons. A DJ will be playing music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
High School Football Playoffs During Red Bud’s playoff game this Saturday, Red Bud High School and the Red Bud Police Department will be enforcing IHSA’s rules involving no alcohol and tobacco on school grounds, reports The North County News.
