Gibault Soccer Player Injured In Car Accident

Gibault sophomore
student Brent Russell was injured late Friday night in a collision on Route 3 in
Columbia. Russell was driving a Honda Civic that collided with a Dodge Durango
at 11:50 p.m. at the intersection of Route 3 and Gall Road. The Columbia
Volunteer Fire Department helped ambulance personnel extricate Russell from his
car, which came to rest after slamming head-on into a traffic signal pole. He
was transported by ambulance to a St. Louis area hospital with leg injuries,
including possible broken bones. The driver of the truck, whose name has not yet
been released, was taken to the hospital with injuries to his chest. The cause
of the accident has not yet been released. Russell is a member of Gibault’s
soccer team, which won the state tournament last weekend.
Hawaiian Luau Is Finale For Eschy’s

Alan Eschmann, right, celebrated their last night of owning Eschy’s Restaurant
in Maeystown with a Hawaiian Luau on Saturday night. Longtime patrons, family
and friends gathered for the festivities.
The Waterloo High School girls cross country team
finished fourth
at the Class A sectional
tournament in Centralia. Their top runner was Alyssa Edwards who placed 10th.
This is the school’s first squad to qualify for the state tournament.
The Columbia Eagles volleyball team lost to
Breese Central in the Class 2 A Nashville Sectional. The
Valmeyer First Mates fell to Greenfield in the Class 1A sectional at Trico High
School. |
