The Corner Pub is gearing up for Thanksgiving with all-you-can-eat turkey dinner today. Dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Rock band Moe Cash will provide musical entertainment from 8 p.m. to midnight. Other pre-Thanksgiving entertainment tonight includes rock bands Uncle Dick at the Waterloo VFW, Father Jack at Tiny’s and Aftershock at Bobeck’s. Schnuck’s grocery store in Waterloo was busy last night with customers picking up items for Thursday’s Thanksgiving meals. Among those spotted pushing carts were John “Hey Cat” Pottoff and Patti Bieber. Pottoff offered Bieber some cooking recommendations. When Chip Bieber (Patti’s husband) visited The Independent office on Wednesday, he was not sure what the cooking recommendations were, but he did notice a ham in their refrigerator. “We’re heading to my sister-in-laws for dinner tomorrow,” reported Chip. The Columbia Kiwanis Club and Dr. Cangas’ Helmets First program are teaming up for a Breakfast With Santa Claus. It will be Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at Columbia’s Old Middle School. Santa will be available for photos. Entertainment includes bounce games, crafts and movies. Door prizes are toys, bikes and tickets to Illini, Mizzou and SLU basketball games. Santa is coming to Morrison-Talbott Library in Waterloo on Saturday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Come hear Mrs. Clause read you a story while you wait for a turn to get your picture taken with Santa. Pictures cost $5 each.
