Valmeyer Home Damaged In Wednesday Morning Fire

A home at 230 N. Cedar Bluff in new town Valmeyer was damaged by fire this morning at 9:30 a.m. The fire began in a child’s bedroom and began to spread throughout the structure. The homeowner, Patricia Whitmore, was home at the time and was able to quickly exit the residence. Valmeyer firefighters arrived within minutes and quickly smothered the blaze. Firefighters from Waterloo and Maeystown also provided assistance with removing items from the home and clearing out the smoke.

 

WHS Defeats Civic Memorial In Volleyball Action

Red Bud Football Falls To Mater Dei

The Columbia Eagles soccer team fell to Lebanon 1-0 on Monday night at Oerter Park. The Eagles are now gearing up for the playoffs which are just around the corner.

 

County Commissioner Dale Haudrich was spotted Wednesday morning putting up campaign signs along Route 3 between Waterloo and Columbia. He said he definitely plans on being in attendance at tonight’s Monroe County Republican Central Committee Fall Victory Dinner at The Falls.

 

Republican Committee Chairman Myron Neff may miss tonight’s dinner at The Falls. He has been staying at Missouri Baptist Hospital for the past week dealing with an illness. “I’m feeling a lot better and just waiting for the doctors to give me the okay to come home,” Neff said. He added he appreciates all the calls and get-well cards he has received during his stay.

 

Democratic candidate for commissioner, Mike Kovarik, was spotted in Columbia on Wednesday putting up yard signs. “I am feeling very positive about the campaign,” Kovarik said. The election is November 4.
