Accident Causes Rush-Hour Congestion Along I-255

There were two minor injuries during a series of accidents Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m. along I-255 between Dupo and Columbia. The initial accident occurred when the driver of a southbound truck lost control, drove into the median and slammed into a retaining wall. Ambulance personnel were able to assist the driver out of the truck and into an ambulance. As traffic backed up along northbound I-255, a woman driving a four-door Volkswagen coupe slammed into the rear end of a pick-up truck.  Northbound I-255 was limited to one lane while emergency worked to clear the scene. Names have not yet been released.

Columbia and Dupo firefighters assisted the Columbia Ambulance Service with an accident along I-255 near the Davis Street Ferry overpass.
