The Columbia Eagles football team hopes their Blue Pride
will carry them the rest of the way through the Illinois state football playoffs. The Eagles will face Greenville next Saturday, who defeated Vandalia earlier today by a score of 28-10. Both teams are undefeated with records of 10-0. Because Greenville’s field is being repaired this year, next week’s playoff game will be held at the high school fields at either Highland or Edwardsville. It will be determined Monday by the IHSA.            - photo by Bob Haentzler

The Valmeyer Pirates girls’ volleyball team lost to Cumberland High School out of Toledo Saturday night in the Super Sectional game in Albion during the Class 1A state tournament. This is the farthest in a state tournament a VHS sports team has made it.

“The girls kept their heads up the entire game and everyone is proud of their season,” said Bruce Whipple, a resident of Valmeyer who traveled to Albion to watch the game.
