The public is invited to attend a Veteran’s Day Service Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Columbia American Legion Hall. It begins at 11 a.m. A wreath-laying service will be held at Lakeview Park in Waterloo at 11 a.m. on Veteran’s Day.

Zion Church Kicks Off Christmas Season
Recent Obituary Loren “Bub” Muskopf, 91, of Millstadt, died Nov. 8, 2008, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. He was born Nov. 30, 1916, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Adolph and Marry Mamie (nee Boeckstiegal) Muskopf. Mr. Muskopf was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine (nee Pistor) Muskopf; and a brother, Kenneth Muskopf. He is survived by a sister, Almira Mueth of Millstadt; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends. Mr. Muskopf served in U.S. Army during World War II, was a charter member of the Millstadt VFW Post 7980 and belonged to the St. Clair County Farm Bureau. He worked at Cargill Seed. After his retirement he tended bar at West End Tavern in Millstadt. Visitation is Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt. A private burial will take place at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Millstadt VFW Post 7980.
