wanted to honor Earl for all he has done for our department,” said Waterloo Fire
Department President Joe Krump, second from left. “Although he is no longer an

Three Alarm
Fire: Fire Damages Home North Of Columbia Columbia, Dupo and Prairie du Pont firefighters worked together Sunday afternoon to put out a fire in a home in the 1700 block of Cement Hollow Road in rural East Carondelet. The home, owned by Mike Harashe, received extensive damage to its back room and attic. There was no one home at the time of the fire. Neighbor Mike Reichling noticed smoke coming from the roof while he was four-wheeling in a nearby field. After he dialed 9-1-1 to notify the area fire departments, he made sure everyone was out of the burning home. “There was smoke billowing out of the roof, but firefighters arrived very quickly and they were able to save the house,” said Reichling. “Mike (Harashe) is such a great neighbor. He would do anything to help out anybody.” The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Robin Edler of Maeys Station is recovering from a cracked rib sustained in a Feb. 15 multi-vehicle accident on Bluff Road in Valmeyer.
