Snow Blankets County

A grader scrapes the snow off of Locust Street in downtown Columbia. A winter storm began yesterday with heavy sleet falling overnight. Snow began falling at about 7 a.m. this morning. Several inches of snow are expected before the end of the day. Area schools were canceled. No major accidents were reported on area roadways.

Correction: In an E-newsletter sent out yesterday, an incorrect name was reported to be involved in a death on Saturday evening. The correct name is Tim Rambo, who lived on Country Club Lane in rural Waterloo. Braun Funeral Home in Cahokia is handling the funeral arrangements.
