Potential For Local Flooding From Today’s Storm

Monroe County has received nearly three inches of rainfall in the past 24 hours and is expected to receive another half-inch overnight, according to Monroe County EMA Coordinator Gene Henckler. 

Residents are advised to be aware of the potential for localized flooding and to take precautions accordingly.

Rain is expected to move into the area at around 4:30 p.m. today and continue falling through the night, Henckler said. He has been in contact with the National Weather Service and other agencies to monitor the current wave of rain.

January:        2.82 inches

February:      3.57 inches

March:        10.69 inches

April:           3.38 inches

Total:        20.46 inches

Monroe County’s average annual rainfall is just over 36 inches, according to Ries.
