Fourth Of July
Celebrated In Grand Style

The annual Colossal Fireworks capped
off the July 4 activities during the Valmeyer Mid-Summer Celebration. The parade
is today, Saturday, July 5, at 5 p.m. Other activities in Valmeyer today include
the lawn mower tractor pull, baseball games and evening music by Fountain Creek.

Charlie Starkey, Bill Kleinschmidt
and Normal Wessel welcome guest to the Columbia July 4th Celebration
at the American Legion Park. The annual event included washers and kloepper
tournaments and a fireworks display.

Waterloo Millers slugger Chas Wiggers blasts a solo blast
to tie the game in the third inning. Waterloo defeated the Marissa Young Guns,
13-3 in the opening game of the Valmeyer Mid-Summer Celebration. Waterloo began
play today against the 2 p.m. against the Belleville Merchants.

Fall Leads To
Tragic Death:
Brent “B.R.” Roever, 32, died
Saturday morning from injuries sustained in a fall July 4 at his home in
Waterloo. He fell down his stairwell and sustained severe trauma to his head.
His is the son of Ron and Kathy Roever of Waterloo, along with a brother and two
sisters. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be posted in an upcoming
e-newsletter.
