Anheuser
Busch Agrees To In-Bev Buyout The Wall Street Journal is reporting Sunday night that Anheuser-Busch and Belgium brewer InBev have agreed to a merger. InBev will purchase the longtime St. Louis company for $70 per share / $52 billion overall. The Wall Street Journal reports the new company will be called Anheuser-Busch InBev. “This is a sad day for everyone who is associated with Anheuser-Busch,” said John Koerber of Waterloo. He was a third-generation co-owner of Koerber Distributing, the Monroe County seller of AB products until it was sold to Illinois Distributing of Belleville a few years ago. A representative for Illinois Distributing said they will make an official statement tomorrow regarding the merger. Bud Light Brigade spokesman Dennis Knobloch said that initially the merger should not have an impact on the popular local parade band. Additional information will be reported as to the local reaction as it comes in.
