Valmeyer Wins
On Kyle Kipping’s Walk-Off Grand Slam

Valmeyer’s Kyle Kipping connected for a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh
inning to propel the Pirates to a 6-2 victory Saturday morning over O’Fallon,
Mo. Christian. “He hit it good, but we weren’t sure it was going to make it
out,” said proud father Dennis Kipping. “But it kept going and going and cleared
the fence.” The Pirates will face Gibault on Monday.

Valmeyer second baseman Brandon Maus puts the tag on
an O’Fallon runner on an attempted steal. Catcher Ben James fired a rocket just
in time for the out. Later in the game, James came in to pitch in relief. He
ended up getting the victory after Kipping’s later inning heroics at the plate.
