Millers And Lakers Remain In Winners Bracket

In the opening day of the Mid-Summer Classic baseball tournament, local teams the Valmeyer Lakers and Waterloo Millers won their games to remain in the winners bracket. In Saturday’s round two games, the Millers will play Fairview Heights at 2 p.m., followed by Valmeyer against Belleville at 4:30 p.m. Millstadt, who fell to Waterloo in the first round, will play Cape Girardeau on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., in the consolation bracket.

Pork Producers Keep Grill Highly Secured

At Valmeyer’s Mid-Summer Celebration

Wanting to prevent a repeat of the Porta-Westfalica incident,
the Monroe County Pork Producers have taken various means to keep anyone from stealing their grill at the Valmeyer Mid-Summer Celebration, including putting on a tire lock and a hitch lock.

 

Gibault Chorus Sings National Anthem In Valmeyer

The Gibault High School girls a cappella group sang the National Anthem prior at the start of the Valmeyer Lakers vs. St. Louis Printers baseball game of the Mid-Summer Classic today in old town Valmeyer. The girls received a standing ovation from the crowd for their performance.
