Millers And Lakers Remain In Winners Bracket In the opening day of the Mid-Summer Classic baseball tournament, local teams the Valmeyer Lakers and Waterloo Millers won their games to remain in the winners bracket. In Saturday’s round two games, the Millers will play Fairview Heights at 2 p.m., followed by Valmeyer against Belleville at 4:30 p.m. Millstadt, who fell to Waterloo in the first round, will play Cape Girardeau on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., in the consolation bracket. ![]() Valmeyer’s Chris Rohlfing delivers a clutch two-out, bases loaded double in the ninth inning to drive in two runs. Gibault Chorus Sings National Anthem In Valmeyer The Gibault High School girls a cappella group sang the National Anthem prior at the start of the Valmeyer Lakers vs. St. Louis Printers baseball game of the Mid-Summer Classic today in old town Valmeyer. The girls received a standing ovation from the crowd for their performance. ![]() Prior to singing the National Anthem today at the Valmeyer Mid-Summer Classic, members of the Gibault a cappella group visit with their favorite teacher, Andy Skaer, who is a player for the Valmeyer Lakers.
