New Waterloo Principals Hired From Valmeyer School District Waterloo school officials didn’t have to look too far in their search for two openings for principals at its high school and elementary school. During Monday’s WCUSD board meeting, it was decided to hire Brian Charron as the new WHS principal, and Dawn Ivers as the principal of the fourth-fifth grade elementary school. Charron currently is the superintendent of the Valmeyer Community Unit School District. Prior to that, he was the VHS principal for six years. “He possesses the right mix of talent, philosophy and experience to lead our high school,” said Waterloo Superintendent Jim Helton. “We welcome Brian into our district.” Charron will take his position this summer, replacing Tim Kreinberg who notified the board earlier this school year of his intentions to resign after this school year. Waterloo native Dawn (McMath) Ivers now serves as the Valmeyer High School principal. After serving as a special education teacher at Waterloo Junior High School, she left to become Valmeyer’s K-8 principal two years ago. This year she was promoted to high school principal. She replaced former VHS Principal Hattie Doyle, who also left Valmeyer to take a position in the Waterloo School District – as curriculum director.
