Just after 12 noon on Saturday, two SUVs collided at the intersection of Bottom Ave. and Admiral Parkway (Route 3) in Columbia. Five people were rushed to an area hospital by several ambulances. Columbia firefighters assisted ambulance personnel in extricating those involved.

“Injuries ranged from minor to severe,” reports Columbia Police Chief Joe Edwards. One of the more badly injured individuals initially appeared to be a pregnant woman in a grey SUV with Missouri license plates.

The names of the victims and the cause of the accident has not yet been released.

The northbound lanes of Admiral Parkway (Route 3) will be closed and diverted along Main Street until late Saturday evening as Illinois State Police accident reconstructionists complete their investigation.
