Sports Update - October 15, 2010
The Waterloo High School boys’ golf team is currently in seventh place today in the first 18-hole round at the IHSA Class 2A State Tournament being held at the Weibring Golf Club in Bloomington. The Bulldogs top four golfers are 48 over par, 23 strokes behind first place Mahomet Seymour High School of Mahomet (located between Champaign in Bloomington) after the first day of play. Current WHS scores after the opening round are Johnny Wirth, 73, Alex Robertson, 85, Clayton Stoker, 85, Charles Hawn, 88, Jake Brumfield, 92, and Alec Trout, 104. The Bulldogs will continue play tomorrow with the final 18-hole match. The Waterloo boy’s golf team advanced to the IHSA state golf tournament by taking third place in the sectional. Waterloo's score was 302, which included Alex Robertson, 73, John Wirth, 74, Charles Hawn, 76, Clayton Stoker, 79, Jake Brumfield, 82, and Alec Trout, 89.
Haley Bode, of the Waterloo girl’s golf
team, qualified as an individual for the Pekin Sectional. She fell short of
reaching the state tournament.
Friday
night football
has
undefeated Red Bud (7-0) traveling north to play Columbia (3-4 ), while the
Bulldogs of Waterloo (7-1) hit the road for a tough game with Triad (4-3).
Games begin at 7 p.m.
The
Gibault and Waterloo girls’ tennis teams
will
participate today in the IHSA Belleville West Sectional Tournament.
