Quincy-Notre Dame Crushes Bulldogs In Home Finale

Although they had previously locked up a playoff berth, the Waterloo Bulldogs were hoping to finish off their season with a home victory to improve their chances of having a playoff game in the coming weeks on their home turf. But a highly-ranked Notre Dame Raiders team (7-2) dominated the Bulldogs throughout the game and took home a 55-7 victory. The Raiders got off to an early lead as they ran the opening kick-off back for a touchdown and they never looked back.

The Raiders continued to pile on the points as they controlled the line of scrimmage and were ahead 55-0 in the fourth quarter. With Quincy putting in some second-stringers, the Bulldogs were finally able to break through and score – preventing a shutout.

The loss dropped Waterloo’s record dropped to 6-3. Their first-round playoff opponent will be announced late Saturday evening. Possible playoff teams the Bulldogs could face include Triad, Civic Memorial or Althoff. The playoff pairings will be released Saturday night on the website: www.ihsa.org.

Schaefer was recognized as one of the top four finalists in the nation in his area of Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication. In recognition of being a finalist, each of the four finalists will receive a plaque, $500 and a 10-day trip to Costa Rica study international agriculture.
