Monroe Actors Stage Co. To Present “The Heiress” Beginning This Weekend At The Capitol Theater Monroe Actors Stage Company will present the classic period drama "The Heiress" as the fourth show of the 2011-2012 season. The show will be presented at the Historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Waterloo on April 20-22, and April 27-29. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. while the curtain rises at 2:30 p.m. for the Sunday matinees. "The Heiress" is set in Washington Square, New York in the 1850s, in the drawing room of the domineering Dr. Austin Sloper, played by MASC veteran Richard Hunsaker. His only child, the plain, naive and very shy Catherine, played by Julie Covlin, has fallen in love with the handsome and very charming Morris Townsend, portrayed by David Zimmermann. Dr Sloper suspects that Townsend is only pretending to be interested in Catherine because of the large fortune she will one day inherit. Sloper forbids their marriage, but standing up to her father for the first time, Catherine suggests an elopement. However, the elopement never happens because Morris learns that if Catherine marries him, her father will disinherit her. Years pass, and Morris returns to find that Catherine has become a tower of strength. The cast of "The Heiress" is completed by Kaitlyn Wirth as Maria, Kim Rosier as the maid, Kelly Jones as Lavinia Penniman, Pat Hunsaker as Elizabeth Almond, Matt Dossett as Arthur Townsend, Lucie Coats as Marian Almond, and Renda Chase as Mrs. Montgomery. The director is Zona Ludlum and the stage manager is Ginger Jones. Tickets for "The Heiress" may be reserved by calling the show line at 939-SHOW (7469).
